Four to the semis
Four aspiring singers made it to the semifinals (Luzon regional eliminations) of the “OPM@Pagcor” nationwide singing competition.
Marie Joyce Tañaña from Angeles City, Pampanga, and Renz Ruther Robosa from San Carlos City, Pangasinan, were named cowinners in the Angeles semifinals on March 24. Jell Christie Sumagui from Dasmariñas, Cavite, and Paullete Cambronero from Pasig City bested 10 others in the Casino Filipino Tagaytay semifinals on March 26.
The four were chosen from a field of more than 400 who auditioned. They each received a cash prize of P25,000 and the chance to undergo a performance training/workshop with some of the country’s leading singer-songwriters from May 28 to June 4.
Auditions and semifinals in Visayas and Mindanao are set this month. Grand finals will be on June 10, at the Pagcor Grand Theater, Airport Casino Filipino, Parañaque City. Log on to pagcor.ph and opm.org.ph, or call 503-9878 and 852-7752.

Log: ADOPT A FAMILY Dec. 2009
We are on the second year participating in the “Adopt a Family this Christmas” Program of our Lourdes Parish Church. This experience has taught my children the value of their good life compared to the less fortunate ones, and how to share what they have to others. Our adopted family is from Guinhawa North. Kind of hard though at this stage since I think I am smelling myself when I was at that state. Less the smell, the experience is not really that tough, on the other hand, it is a fulfulling food for the soul.
Summing up…Destitution should be eradicated… let us help others rise away from poverty. We have no right to monopolize a good life.

Conquering the steep ravines of Tagaytay
not without bruises, cuts and scraped knees… the route via Maryridge (Good Shepherd) down to Talisay is so unforgiving. Last time I was here was about 30 years ago… We had to trek for 58 minutes and then ride for 10 minutes. Kalvin and Joshua ran into a crazy jeep reversing on the main road, while we were running downhill at 60kph, thus a spill and had to scrape their knees on the process… shitty drivers… f… goin downhill, we overtook 2 motorbikes and a jitney…
